A wonderfully different shopping experience!. In business since 1998, Cottage Garden Furniture has evolved into an almost indescribable shop. In the Spring and Summer, it could easily be called a garden center or at the very least, a very lovely flower shop. Beautiful perennials, herbs and flowering baskets from local growers make the Cottage a gardener’s delight. Yard art enhances the gardens and covered porch for gift giving ideas. Then imagine an art gallery outdoors! Local artist Susie Burch’s painted floral windows line the pergola covered walkway along with trays of herbs and bedding plants lined along the railings. Follow the wooden walkway or the moss lined path and check out the small potting shed. Always filled with interesting garden ideas, the potting shed is every gardener’s dream! During any time of season, at the top of Cottage Garden’s driveway is a log enclosed garage literally filled with furniture painted by owner, Judie Harman. Bears, foxes and fish are favorite additions to Judie’s furniture. In addition, beautifully hand-crafted rustic furniture make the cottage a must see for cabin dwellers. Custom signs with names of local lakes, porch benches and even artfully painted lamps light the eclectic mix of art, furniture and flowers! Fall, winter, spring or summer, step inside the Cottage and enjoy inspiring floral art. A display of large impressionistic oil paintings by Ann Smith and beautiful water colors by very popular Robie Fisch line the ivy painted walls. More hand painted furniture and even sunprotective hats and clothing for gardeners and outdoor lovers for both men and women.

TOUR EVENT: Cottage Garden has long been known for a kind of hands on place. We are always in the middle of a new project. It might be gilding a piece of furniture or planting a garden chair. We think that is part of the charm of Cottage Garden. With that in mind, all three days of the art tour will allow people to not only watch demonstrations, but also participate and join in. Stop in at any time and we will make room for you and your friends. Judie usually demonstrates on Friday, but this time supplies will be on hand so that you can paint your own small flower box. All the supplies will be on hand to paint a wonderful box to add a flower to. We will be there all day, so just stop by and start painting! Saturday will be set aside for some very special artists and again we want participation! Brenda Butler is a clay artist who specializes in some very whimsical pieces. While she is showing her wonderful pansy pots and garden stakes she will also try to get you hooked into Artist Trading Cards. She is bringing all her supplies and all of her cards. Sit down for a moment and she will help you design your own! What a fun thing to do with a bunch of friends. Come any time. Brenda will be at the Cottage all day! On both Saturday at 1:00 and on Sunday at noon, Brian Swiff of Choice Environments Landscapes will be giving a hands on lecture on perennials. Brian is particularly known at Sky Lake for his thoughtful landscape planning and implementation. Brian will be bringing a large assortment of perennials to Cottage Garden and will talk about each one. He will have Spring Starters plants, Summer Sunshine plants and lots of fall favorites. Brian will also be holding a drawing for a free landscape design. Cottage Garden will open early on Sunday for Scenic Sunday Day. Cool refreshments will be served on the deck and Brian will lecture starting at noon. Brenda will be in the Cottage making clay creations and Judie will be working on a garden chair in the garden. Artful door prizes will be announced all day long!
