Glass Mountain Gallery and Studio was established in 1996 in Robertstown Georgia, one mile north of Helen. From this location artists Phillip and Janine Shelby have produced hand crafted fine art glass which has been sold worldwide. For a limited time each year the Shelbys open their studio to the public giving glass blowing demonstrations and informative tours of the facilities. When visiting you will see the furnaces operating at 2400 degrees and tour the cold shop where cutting, grinding and polishing of art glass takes place. This is a rare opportunity to visit a working studio and learn about this amazing substance we call glass. The gallery is a renovated general store built in 1930. The solid oak construction is quite unusual and worth a look.
In addition to participating in the Northeast Georgia Arts Tour Demonstrating Artist Open House Weekends we are open September through December on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays 10 am – 4 pm. Our studio and gallery is located at 257 Clayton Road, Robertstown, GA. From Helen, GA drive north 1 mile, turn right at Hwy 356 (Unicoi Road) and take an immediate left at Freds Famous Peanuts. We are at the top of the knoll, on the left.
