7th Annual Flower and Liturgical Arts Festival, “The Language of Flowers”
June 7 and 8 from 10 am – 5 pm
St. James Episcopal Church, 260 Warwoman Drive, Clayton, GA 706.782.6179
The theme for this year’s Festival is taken from the title of the novel, “The Language of Flowers” by Victoria Diffenbaugh. Flowers have a long history of expressing meaning. Flowers speak through their color, size, and shape. A single flower can say, “I love you”; an arrangement of flowers can say “Let’s Celebrate.”
Floral tablescapes, created by our floral designers will express through flowers times in our lives: wedding happiness, funeral sorrow, graduation celebration. Other tablescapes will feature edible flowers and herbs and May Day. The baptismal font, the retable and other parts of the Church will display arrangements of flowers.
On Friday afternoon at 1:30 we will have a new event ... a hands-on arranging of flowers. Five of St. James’ flower arrangers have agreed to arrange on-the-spot. They will be given an event that can be expressed with flowers, a flower vase, and flowers, and will be asked to create a design. A volunteer will help them and be given the arrangement to take home.
On Saturday morning, Alvin Moore, one of Georgia’s premier Floral Designers, will demonstrate the use of flowers to express the voice of worship in the Church.
The public is invited to come and enjoy our presentation of “The Language of Flowers.”
